Worker Mahir Kılıç, who has been on a hunger strike since August 2019 in front of the building of regional council of the main opposition party in Turkey, the Republican People’s Party (CHP) in Istanbul, with demand to be returned to work at the department of sanitation in a Izmir metropolitan municipality – won its victory yesterday.
In a social media post last evening, Mahir Kılıç announced that he had received announcement according to which he is returned to his job. With this his request was fulfilled. Thus, after 160 days of hunger strike and more than 250 days of sit in protest in front of the Regional Council of the Republican People’s Party (CHP) in Istanbul, Kılıç has regained his return to work.
We congratulate Mahir Kılıç for his victory, and express our hope that all workers, civil servants, political prisoners and all revolutionaries fighting for their rights and freedoms will win new victories in 2020.
