YUSUF KUTLU, OUR MARTYR ON THE 506TH DAY OF RESISTANCE
WHO CAN DEFEAT SUCH RESOLVE?
WHO CAN DESTROY SUCH BELIEFS?
Yusuf KUTLU, who was in the 5th Death Fast Team, fell martyr in Ankara Numune Hospital at 1645 on the 506th day of resistance. For 279 days Yusuf Kutlu continued along his road resolving upon either victory or death. Massacres, torture, isolation, threats, forcible medical intervention, censorship – nothing made him turn back from his path. These 506 days continued to write into world history an incomparable legend. These were days which passed through tyranny, but also days in which the banners remained spotless.
LET THE SAMI TURKS KNOW THAT THE RESISTANCE HAS NOT FINISHED!
The newspapers have not written a single word about the resistance.
The televisions have not broadcast anything about it; but the belief and willpower in the coffin prisons mean that (Justice Minister) Sami Turk’s censorship is not a fortress. Sami Turk told the press, “If you don’t write about it, it will come to an end.” And indeed the press wrote nothing. But it is not coming to an end. Nor will it finish. If they go into the ground one by one, still it will not end. It does not end; in a country where every section of the people is condemned to hunger and poverty, and participants in even the smallest action in search of rights are beaten with clubs, detained and imprisoned, how could it end in the prisons? The struggle will develop among every section of the people. No oppression by the authorities can prevent this. Though day by day their bodies are worn down by the fast, they know how to build for the future.
The winds blowing from this struggle in the isolation cells will reach the most out-of-the-way corners of Anatolia. Henceforth, this resistance will shape the country’s history of struggle. This country will resist LIKE THEM. It will go into the fight for independence LIKE THEY HAVE. Those who want rights and freedoms will struggle LIKE THEY HAVE.

Those isolated in the prison bear the heaviest but also the most magnificent burden, the hope of millions. This heart does not stop. The blood from captivity under the most severe conditions is continuing to be pumped to Anatolia. It gives the strength of resistance to the people. All the world will bear witness; Antolia will know how to resist LIKE THEM.
IT MUST BE KNOWN THAT THERE IS NO OTHER WAY THAN TO FIGHT AGAINST A SYSTEM THAT LEAVES PEOPLE HUNGRY, TYRANNISES OVER THEM AND BANS THEIR LANGUAGES AND BELIEFS!
Our comrade Yusuf was born in Ekinci, Antakya, Hatay Province (southern Turkey, near the Syrian border). He was an Arab Alevi, who are called Nusayris locally. He was 29 years old. He took his place in the people’s liberation struggle. He was a worker. He painted cars for a living. Like all of our people who are against the system, he had a number of reasons for thinking that way. As he put it in his curriculum vitae to our organisation: My native language is Arabic. But I only know how to speak it. I do not know how to read or write it. He was like millions of Kurds, Arabs, Laz, Georgians and Cherkess living in this country who cannot read or write their own language. They cannot receive education in their own language. Their languages are banned. In such a country, those who suppose that they can put an end to people like Yusuf Kutlu do not know the truth or are deceiving themselves.
THE ORGANISATION STILL EXISTS IN THE ISOLATION CELLS, DESPITE PEOPLE LIKE SAMI TURK!
Sami Turk, you did not destroy the organisation in the cells.
“I am dying on the road that the Party has shown me.”, Yusuf Kutlu said when he laid down to die. “The Party is justice, the Party is our future.”, he said as he was martyred.
Our comrade Yusuf was imprisoned in 1995. He was in his 8th year of captivity. He stayed in Malatya and Bartin prisons. He was in Bartin at the time of the December 19, 2000 massacre. He was transported to Sincan F-Type Prison. Our comrade Yusuf was one of those who frustrated the plans to make the revolutionary prisoners surrender by isolating them and subjecting them to torture and sanctions. The comrades were separated but their comradeship kept them united. They were far from the people yet they were one with the people. They had made the organisation a part of themselves.
In a country where hunger, poverty, servility to imperialism, tyranny and attacks on beliefs and thoughts continue in the most hideous manner; you cannot destroy an organisation which defends independence, democracy, justice and socialism. You cannot destroy it even with the help of your fatherly lord and master America. The ORGANISATIONS which take the lead in the people’s liberation struggles are present and fighting throughout the world and they will continue to be present.
This is a war, which will go on UNTIL LIBERATION. We will continue to resist your dungeons, cells and whatever UNTIL LIBERATION.
Because the will, ideology and courage of our organisation is in the hearts and minds of thousands like Yusuf Kutlu.
LET US UNITE TO RESIST, NOT JUST IN THE PRISONS BUT IN THE SHANTYTOWN NEIGHBOURHOODS, FACTORIES AND VILLAGES, IN A COUNTRY WHOSE EVERY AREA HAS BEEN TURNED INTO AN F-TYPE PRISON!
The isolation conditions and censorship by those who want to crush the extraordinary courage of this resistance can tell everyone only one thing; there is no logic or compassion in tyranny. For our rights and freedoms, our only remedy is the struggle. There is no power on earth which can
make those who resist submit. 506 days Six seasons, One and a half years. That is our answer to those who put our will to the test.
506 days, Six seasons, One and a half years. To our people, this is the proof of our ties to our ideals. In the F-Type prisons, the ISOLATION WILL BE BROKEN! There is no other road. We will not
