The death fast resistance that was initiated to protest the F Type Jail project, that aim at rehabilitating the political captives and the people of Turkey into ‘robots’ who do not think and who behave the way the state dictates, is continuously growing.
Today (27 May 2001) Uğur Türkmen who pursued the death fast in his house in Mersin (A Port City in the Mediterranean Region), after being released from the Sincan F Type jail on 5 January 2001, martyred on the 204th of his protest. The death fast resistance in the Turkish (F Type) Prisons and in the hospitals (despite torturous forced feeding activities) is continuing in the 220th day. The death fast action that was started by TAYAD (Prisoner’s Families Mutual Assistance Association) families entered its 195th day. The state, that denies to meet the demands of the political captives is responsible for the deaths that have previously occurred and that may occur in the future. We will continue to die until the last resistor martyrs unless our democratic and humanitarian demands are met by the Turkish State authorities; but we will never renounce our ideas.
