TO THE MEMBERS AND THE LEADERSHIP OF THE TÜSIAD, TESEV, TISK, TÜGIAD, MÜSIAD

Revolutionary People’s Liberation Front

Statement no. 21, January 31, 1996

You did not get so very rich because of your god-given special gifts. You have become rich by exploiting the sweat of the workers, by putting them to work in exchange for a meal, by leaving them homeless and keeping them in inhuman conditions. The richer you became, the more you exploited them. First you sold all our treasures, below and above the surface of the earth, to the imperialists and thereby impoverished our people, and then you exploited their poverty by using them as cheap laborers to exploit them even more, together with the imperialists.

Creating a national industry and protecting the national interests was not your concern. To get rich as quickly as possible, you choose the way of increased exploitation and repression. For that purpose you manufactured all national riches under the control and leadership of the imperialists and you thus secured your shares. You have gone the only way of quick wealth, the exploitation of the national riches and the labor of the people in cooperation with the imperialists. Economically, politically and military you have subjected the country to the hegemony of the imperialists. You are the backbone of the imperialists in our country. Without your presence, the imperialists would not be able to penetrate our country. And even if the would, they would not be able to survive and the would not escape the fate of this country.

Together with the collaborators of the imperialists you hav, step by step, taken controle over the government. All decisions, economical and political, are taken according to your interests. All institutions of education are designed to provide you with even more profits. This education excludes the people and its interests. It teaches the people that one has to get rich, by any means. And thus theft, bribery and all kinds of infamous deeds were made legitimate. On the other hand you have, with the help of the media which you own and have in your hands, elicited the people to consume all kinds of things. A larg proportion of the people, which did not have the means to afford this consumption, was forced to prostitution. The people, who produce but do not get the price for their labor, is not able to feed itself properly and thus grows up in bad health conditios. The people, not able to feed themselves, are not able to solve their helath problems. The hospitals, specialists etc.: they all work for your benefit. When you do not have enough money, you have no right to live. You have robbed the people of everything they had. While even a shed, built in one night – a gececondu -, became a luxury for the people, you have become the owners of several villas, not only in our own land, but in Europe and America as well. The people got poorer by the day. Unemployment rose sky-high. The people stood in line to serve you as slaves. And you strenghtened your relations with America, Europe and Japan and to become even richer, you have continued the exploitation.

Knowing very well that you would have to account for your collaboration with the imperialists and the exploitation of the reserves of the land, you have strengthened several security measures. First you have organized the state institutions in a fascist manner. You have blocked all ways for the people for the people’s struggle and organization. Against those who demanded their rights, those who organized, those who struggled, you put your police, the army, the civilian fascists, the provocators, the scabs. The justice system exists for your interests. The courts and prisons haven’t been empty for a moment. They are filled with people who were impoverished by you, who were driven to infamy, to prostitution and criminal acts. And when this did not suffice, you built special prisons, declared the state of emergency, organized coup d’etats, in other words: you transformed the whole country into a prison. You made governments, and when they did not please anymore, you brought thenm down. There are no governments without your consent, and the consent of the imperialists. They can not take decisions against your will.

The revolutionaries and progressive people who opposed your capitalist system, were incarcerated in your dungeons, they were executed, butchered. Thus you have tried to maintain the system.

All established parties ask for your approval when they are formed, when the appear on the political stage, when they build governments. You never allow a party to form a government which has parts in its program which are directed against your profits and which does not have your consent. The constitution and all other laws are designed that way. All laws which start with the phrase “The interests of the Republic of Turkey and the nation…” have been made for you. When they say “Republic” and “nation”, they do not mean the interest of the people, on the contrary: they have your interests in mind. These laws are intended to keep the people imprisoned as a whole and to enslave them. The desire of the people for freedom and justice and the resistance against exploitation and repression are considered “terrorists acts” and the people are punished without mercy by these laws. All these laws are introduced to protect your system. You have had them drafted. The list of your wrongdoings against the people can be made much larger, without doubt.

Ultimately you have surrendered our country to the imperialists. The governments were changed into bureaucrats for the imperialists. And you are at the top of them.

YOU HAVE FINISHED THE INDEPENDENCE OF THE COUNTRY

By organizing the state in a fascist manner, you have blocked all ways to look for freedom and justice. All state institutions are packed with fascists, in uniform and in civilian clothes, to oppress the growing opposition of the people. The armed forces have became the all deciding power. Even the petit-bourgeois laws, the basis for law, justice and equality, were abolished.

YOU RULED THIS COUNTRY WITH THE HELP OF FASCISM. YOU DID NOT LEAVE ONE SHRED OF DEMOCRACY

You pushed the exploitation so far that the people started to yearn for the poverty of earlier days. Unemployment spred across the whole country. Our people left their country to look for possibilities to survive in other countries. Emigration became a solution.

To incite the people to collaboration, you tried to abolish all our national values and the values of our people. You waged campaigns to convince the people of the values of the imperialists and to promote consumption. In the name of “progress” you persuaded the people to imitate the imperialists on all levels, from culture to education, from art to music.

You have destroyed the ideals of our youth. You wanted them to forget the love for their own country, to stop them from taking sides with the people and with justice. You tried to create a youth which imitates the imperialists, a youth which lives solely for itself and sells everything for its own interests. The school institutes have begun to arrange education according to your interests. “Get rich, at all costs” means higher profits for you, and even more exploitation. You wanted to create a youth which is gifted in exploiting and robbing. You, the exploiters and robbers, have done everything possible to protect your interests, you didn’t leave anything, from exploitation, repression and oppression to massacres.

You filled the army, the police and their subsidiaries with people who are supposed to torture, to kill and to slaughter. You trained them for this purpose. You charged the youth, exposed to poverty by you, to oppress the people. You put the people against eachother with the help of money.

AND WHERE ARE YOU NOW?

Despite all your laws, all your stories, and despite the fact that you called for help from the army, the police, and the domestic and foreign secret services, you have not been able to oppress the struggle of the people for independence, democracy and socialism. Although thousands of young women and men and elder people fell, the struggle continues in all the four corners of our country. The slums, factories, mountains, and schools: they have become fields of struggle. The streets and prisons are burning. Old and young, from 7 till 70, they all die for freedom and independence, and when necessary, they also kill. You have not let us any alternative to survive but to kill. Killing has become a legitimate means of defence. All the living spaces of the people have become vulcanoes who are at the point of eruption… And you have begun to see that you can stay much longer in peace in your sky-scrapers, in your ghettos, and that this system of exploitation and repression can not last forever.

“One day they will be at our door to cut our throats”

These words were said by a member of TESEV. And he was right. No people in the world would keep silent when confronted with so much repression and oppression and accept this as “fate”. We will tear down your system which you govern together with the imperialists, and we completely destroy your state. We will establish a new state, the revolutionary people’s power. We will establish a socialist system where there will be no repression and exploitation and where the people will live together brotherly. And you will not enjoy, as you do now, a special treatment. You will not be able to bring down governments or put new ones in power. You will not be able to keep up exploitation. You will be able, as anybode else, to live from your labor. But we will not, as your army and police do, commit torture and we will not rape young girls, we will not cut of ears and heads.

THE LESSON OF THE ATTACK ON THE SABANCI CENTRE

You should have learnt something from this attack. “One day they will be at our door to cut our throats”. With these words you admit the exploitation and repression against the people. An admission, it is true, but in stead of seeing the reality of the people and the country and exercizing self-criticism and account for the crimes you committed, you commit even more crimes to secure your future. It is your primary thought to oppress the revolutionary struggle, so one will not cut your throats. Give up, for you will not succeed. You can not change the course of history.

AND NOW YOU SUDDENLY THINK ABOUT THE KURDISH PEOPLE!

During the whole time of the Republic you ignored the Kurdish people, denied its existence. You answered every uprising of the Kurdish people with massacres. You saw them as a inferior people which had to be oppressed. Now you suddenly start to talk about “peace” and “the Kurdish people”. We know you do not love the Kurdish, nor the Turkish people, you are only concerned with your own interests. Your problem is, as a well-known business-man put it, that “the people from the slums and the mountains will one day be at (your) door…” As you very well know, that day will be the day of the revolution of the Kurdish, the Turkish and all other people who live in our country, the day of the revolution of all workers and patriots. All your efforts are directed at postponing that day. Until this day you thought you could contain the liberation struggle of the Kurdish people within certain borders and that you could oppress and fight it with the use of massacres. But the liberation struggle of the people has surpassed the limits of the national liberation struggle and it has extended into a struggle for freedom of all the people in which the Turkish, Kurdish, Arab, Cherkessian, the Georgian and all other people in the country unite in a people’s liberation struggle to establish the people’s power. The struggle of the oppressed against the oppressors has spread from Hakkari to Istanbul, from the mountains to the slums and it has hit you in the sky-scrapers, in the Sabanci Center in your midst.

You think that you can protect your system and stop the revolution by putting an end to the struggle for the Kurdish national liberation. With the recognition of the Kurdish identity and the recognition of certain cultural rights and allowing local self- government, you try to integrate the Turkish part of Kurdistan in your system and you try to continue your exploitation and your profit making. Certain new developments, which do not aim at changing the system as a whole and which do not touch your interests and your profits, are not a problem to you. The petit-bourgeois, which is full of self-confidence, is in fact rather late with these changes. Nowadays there are rather many imperialist countries who do not have any problem with the fact that there are many different cultures, brought together under one roof within the capitalist system. The monopolist bourgeois also prefers to allow some cultural rights to the Kurdish people instead of destroying the capitalist system. In this way they try to secure the future of the capitalist system. And although it is a late decision of the bourgeois, it remains a sensible decision. The struggle has teached you to think this way.

YOUR MISTAKES

Although you want to preserve the capitalist system with its exploitation and oppression, your decision to recognize the identity of the Kurdish people has been a step forward, compared with denial by massacres and oppression. This attitude, however, does not stem from your own conviction, it is the result of the thoughts of the American and European imperialists. You have gone this way to protect the long term interests of yourself and the imperialists.

Although we, the revolutionaries, know your intentions, we wegen weigh every step, which could be against the people, very carefully. We will not resist solutions and changes which are in the interest of the people.

We know that the imperialists, the collaborating monopolies and the governement share your attitude. The Sabanci holding shared this attitude as well.

The Sabanci holding was not choosen as a target because it discussed the Kurdish question.

You are not our target because you took a stand which is in the interest of the people. Some circles have suggested, to mistify the issue, that “Sabanci was made a target because he discussed the Kurdish question”. We are not a party in your collaboration with this or that capitalist country or in your competition struggle with the imperialists. We fight against all imperialists and against the policy of collaboration.

We do not see it as a problem that you think about the Kurdish question, and also about the problems of all the people. Now you start, again put to it by the imperialists and your game of democracy, talking about democracy, human rights, and justice. Within this framework you protested against the butchering of Metin Göztepe and you demanded that the responsible persons are to be found and punished. This was also the attitude of the Turkish government. It was in your own interest to make the people believe “that there is democracy in Turkey and the responsible persons will be caught”. Thus you try to consign the massacres on thousands of people to oblivion. You put a few policemen forward as the responsible murderers to legitimize the murderous state.

But the whole country has changed into a bloodbath. It is a fact that hundreds of people are made “disappeared” by the state forces, that they are murdered, it is a known fact that hundreds of thousands of people have been tortured and tens of thousands of people were imprisoned.

Three million Kurds were driven from their land and left to poverty. Our mountains and our villages are bombed day by day. Everyday there are massacres, there are heads cut of from the murdered and pictures are made of this as a souvenir. Maybe the mountains are too far away for you. Maybe you do not believe that this all is happening. But even in the surroundings of your sky- scrapers hundreds of people were murdered and are still being murdered. The whole world has heard the cries from the torture centres. Only you haven’t seen or heard anything!

You condemned the murder of Metin Göktep. Rightely so. But it was not one Metin who was murdered. Thousands of Metins have been killed, tens of thousands of Metins have been wounded.

Who are the murderers? Who gave the orders? Who governs and how cruel can these rulers become? The murderers, those are the policemen and the army. The military and the police are serving the state. But the state can not take oine decision or execute one decision against your will.

In your own vicinity, in Istanbul, in Ankara, in Izmir, hundreds of executions were carried out on the spot. A lot of our people were butchered. In Istanbul-Gazi, in Ümraniye, the fire was opened on the defenceless people. 21 people were butchered before the eyes of the world. We haven’s seen any statement or protest from your side. On the contrary, you supported the chiefs of the contra- guerrilla like Menzir with statements like “let us stand by our police”. That you condemned the murder of Metin Göztep anyway, is a positive step.

But you should make the following demands your own when you come with statements for the government, for the parties, for the bussiness world, in other word for yourself, and when you talk to secure your future.

THOSE WHO COMMIT MASSACRES, WHO LET PEOPLE DISAPPEAR, WHO KIDNAP AND MURDER, WHO CUT OF HEADS, AND THEIR COMMANDERS MUST BE PUNISHED!

TURKYE CAN NOT BE THE COUNTRY OF MASSACRES AND CRUELTIES!

YOU SAY THERE MUST BE PEACE IN KURDISTAN. BUT YOU NEVER ASKED WHO ARE THE MURDERERS, THE MURDERERS WHO COMMIT THESE MASSACRES, WHO COMMIT GENOCIDE, WHO BOMB THE VILLAGES, WHO FORCE THE PEOPLE TO FLEE! YOU NEVER WONDERED WHO THOSE BLLODY HANDS WHERE FROM! AFTER ALL, IT ARE YOUR OWN HANDS!

THERE CAN ONLY BE PEACE IN KURDISTAN WHEN YOU TAKE YOUR BLOODSTAINED HANDS AWAY FROM IT. THE BLOODY HANDS, THAT’S YOUR MILITARY, YOUR POLICE, YOUR VILLAGE GUARDS!

Concerning these problems you do not take a stand, you keep silent.

Your silence means supporting the government.

When you want to be on the people’s side:

1 – Give up your collaboration with the imperialists. Base yourself on the national interests and independence.

2 – Do not support any longer the policy of this fascist government, the policy of the massacres, the “disappearances”, the evictions and torture.

3 – Take your hands of Kurdistan.

4 – Those who were forced to flee must be allowed to return to their villages, and the state should compensate their material and non- material damages.

5 – Do not take a stand against the liberation struggle of our people.

6 – Do not prevent the organisation of the working class. Do not support and provoke the scabs any longer.

7 – All laws which are aimed at abolishing the independence, the democracy, and against the struggle for freedom and justice, must be abolished and replaced by laws which are based on independence and democracy.

8 – All political prisoners must be released.

All those who oppose these demands, are against the people, are traitors to the country. They are against the liberation struggle of the people and take sides with the fascist government. Take sides with the people and do not become the target of the people.
