AYTAÇ ÜNSAL, THE PEOPLE’S LAWYER, IS UNDER TORTURE, THEY ARE TRYING TO KILL HIM BY BLOCKING HIS TREATMENT
WE WILL NOT ALLOW AYTAÇ TO BE KILLED!
Our colleague, our comrade, the people’s lawyer Aytaç Ünsal, was illegally arrested again on December 10, 2020, and has been kept in solitary confinement in a single cell for weeks. Aytaç, whose health deteriorated due to the death fast, is not treated, his medication is not given to him. They want to kill Aytaç by blocking his treatment, keeping him in isolation. We will not allow this!
Aytach Ünsal, the people’s lawyer, was on the death fast with his colleague Ebru Timtik who died on the 238th day of her fast for the right to a fair trial. Our colleague resisted on the fast for 214 days, and because his health was not conducive to staying in prison conditions, the execution of his sentence was postponed and he was released by the Supreme Court. On December 10, 2020, Aytaç was detained as part of a conspiracy, tortured, and arrested again before his treatment was finished, the decision to postpone the execution against him was unlawfully lifted.
Aytaç Ünsal, who should not even stay in prison due to his health condition, has already been released for this reason, has been kept in isolation in Edirne F-Type Prison and in a single cell for a month. He is not given vitamin B1, which is mandatory for his treatment. He continues to lose weight because his treatment cannot be continued, and he has bruises on his body. Inflammation of the nerve endings, caused by the death fast, progresses because it is not treated. Aytaç’s right to life is under serious threat. Aytaç Ünsal, who was sentenced to 10 years and 6 months in prison in a political revenge case, is now being openly murdered with the same political motives. We will not allow this!
Our colleague, People’s Lawyer Aytaç Unsal, should be given the mandatory Vitamin B1 immediately for his treatment and should also be released immediately so that his treatment can continue.
We call on all our colleagues, all legal organisations, bar associations and our people to lay claim to Aytaç and demand his freedom so that he can be treated, as he has been throughout the months of resistance.
