ZEHRA KULAKSIZ became immortal as the 57th martyr of resistance.
Our girls, our youth, our mothers, our people young and old, man and woman, are teaching how to win and not to submit. Whilst the power in Turkey has been cornered and is panicking because it has not been able to break the resistance, it is hoping to get results from the early releases. It has put iron bars on hospitals windows which have been converted into torture centres, with the support of the Justice ministers in Europe, yet we have another martyr in the house of resistance in Kucukarmutlu. Following the martyrdom of the revolutionary captive Aysun Bozdogan on June 25, Zehra KULAKSIZ has fallen outside the prisons. We are in both inside and outside the prisons. The resistance is both inside and outside of the prison walls. In the houses of resistance in Izmir and Istanbul’s Kucukarmutlu district the death fast resisters are continuing their march to death and victory. The attempts of breaking the resistance through the early releases will not achieve anything. Because we are in everywhere.
With Zehra we declare once again that:You can not defeat such a resistance which united the youth, elders, parents and their sons and daughters!
In that house 3 more people had fallen before Zehra. In that house, Zehra’s 19 year old sister Canan was martyred. Zehra was continuing her death fast action in the very same house. Zehra is a daughter of the Laz people (natives of North Anatolia). Zehra is an Anatolian girl whose mind and heart could not be corrupted by the regime. Zehra is from Dev-Genc (Revolutionary Youth). Zehra is from TAYAD (Association Of Families And Friends Of Political Prisoners). Zehra is one of those who say, “we only bow down during our dance Harmandali and before the friendly gatherings”. Tyranny is trying to make everyone submit. The name of the tyranny is the IMF, imperialism, fascism, starvation, the US dollar and the Turkish State. Our youth, the Dev-Genc, are not bowing down. Our mothers of two, our 46 years old Uncle Veli are not submitting. Our daughters, our youth will never submit. For this reason they are prepared to pay the ultimate price. And they are paying the price.
We announce with Zehra once again: your manoeuvres will achieve nothing!
The rulers are showing that their early releases (they are just leaving these crippled captives outside the prisons walls without any care) of the crippled captives is the living evidence of the ruler’s murderous and torturer face. They say this is a “solution”. What do you solve by getting rid of the resisters whose memories were destroyed, who were left handicapped and on the brink of death? No, nothing has been resolved. No, there is no “good faith” in this. On the contrary, with these releases you are planning to weaken and break the resistance. But there is a point that is misleading them. We exist both inside and outside of prisons. The resistance is continuing both in and out of prisons. This is how Zehra replied to your manoeuvres. “Your manoeuvres will bring no result, we will continue to die until we will win”. The betrayal of those who were released and stopped resisting is becoming clear before the resistance of Zehra. Think what kind of decay that they fell into. They are stepping into a pile of dirt, which cannot be cleaned by anyone. They cannot be useful to anyone including their families, their country or themselves. Zehra is squashing them with her death. She said, “you are traitors.” You left this resistance and took the side of the tyrants. You will be remembered with contempt. And the hegemony of history will not change; those who resist will speak the last word.
With Zehra, once again we are calling to those who are silent!
Our deaths are like bombs dropping in the middle of the castle of tyrants. Our deaths are like bombs dropping in the middle of silent houses, work places, factories and districts. We will smash the castles of tyrants and this silence. We will become, two, three, tens more and both tyranny and silence will be broken into pieces. Zehra who has fallen martyr in the same house where her sister was martyred, it is a monument to determination. She is a monument to the invincibility of our resistance.
Those who are STILL dreaming of breaking the resistance need to give their useless dreams up.
Those who are STILL carrying their selfishness and fear like a heavy chain around their necks need to learn from Zehra how to break those chains.
Those who are STILL staying away from the resistance because they are protecting their status quo within the system and are suffering from the anxiety of belonging to a small competitive group leave your small worlds and join the great world of Zehra.
OUR PEOPLE, OUR YOUTH!
We are appealing to you with our Canan, Zehra, Gulsuman and Uncle Veli who refused to submit. They are the teachers of the resistance against tyranny. We do not say much. We only say that we should learn from them.
Zehra KULAKSIZ: the daughter of the Laz people who carried a century’s old wisdom and honour in her 23 years old heart. Her sister Canan was 19 years old when she fell right next to her. She was teaching the world a lesson in how to be a revolutionary and a dignified human being. Zehra in her self-evaluation was saying that; … I have solved the puzzle. That is, if you wish you achieve it. This is a fact. CANAN has solved the main question. Everything starts from demanding. CANAN has taught us many things… And now Zehra is teaching with her martyrdom. She was born on March 3, 1978 in Rize. The daughter of a Laz. She completed her intermediate and high school education in Esenyurt, Istanbul and in 1997 she enrolled at the Department of Economy at Istanbul University. She continued her education until the fourth year. Since high school years she come across revolutionaries. Her paternal uncle was a revolutionary. She was influenced by her uncle who is still a captive. She rediscovered herself and realised the meaning of life. She met with DEV-GENC in university. She continued her struggle as a DEV-GENC supporter. Whilst working on solving the academic problems of a student, she knew that these problems are not apart from the problems of the people. Therefore, she took part in every form of struggle. Zehra was a DEV-GENC cadre and a relative of captives at the same time. She took part in the Death Fast of the TAYAD families. Whilst resisting she was describing her feelings with the following; I see myself in a beautiful and important part of the struggle. We are living through a very important period and I am also in this great resistance. That is, right in the middle of the struggle. She was right in the middle of the struggle. She attacked the silence and the tyranny and she exploded right in the centre of resistance like a bomb.
