THE DEATH FAST CONTINUES WITH OUR MARTYRS
THE DEATH FAST RESISTER HASAN GUNGORMEZ WAS MARTYRED ON THE 70TH DAY OF RESISTANCE
After the First Death Fast Team resister in Usak Prison, Berrin BICKILAR and in Ceyhan Prison the First Death Fast Team resister Halil ONDER, the Cankiri Prison First Death Fast Team Resister Hasan Gungormez was martyred on the 70th day of his resistance while refusing to accept forcible medical treatment.
Hasan Gungormez was one of the Death Fast resisters when the December 19 attacks and massacres directed at all prisons which were said to be about “preserving their lives” were carried out – he was taken to Ankara Numune Hospital after being severely wounded, and today he fell a martyr on the 70th day of the Death Fast. Our Death Fast martyr Hasan Gungormez shouted out to the whole world how immoral and vile the torture of “forcible treatment” is. He did not sell his honour for one bottle of serum. The government which was killing them by burning, shooting and bombarding them is now killing the Death Fasters one by one. The statements by the government that they “burned themselves” are a vain attempt to hide their massacre. When they had already been on hunger strike for 60 days, the hundreds of captives were being attacked with gas, bullets and fire bombs, and now saying that “they burned themselves” is an attempt to avoid the
blame for this massacre.
The whole world saw that a major massacre was being experienced in the prisons of Turkey. Now they are trying to keep quiet the deaths of the Death Fast resisters and under the name of forcible medical treatment tortures which can only be described as medieval are continuing.
Let nobody try to save a murderous government which has been caught in the act by talking rubbish, let nobody shout and make a loud noise, let nobody deceive the people with lies, let nobody reduce ideas and concepts to chaos and present the resisters as being the guilty ones. The history of the world is the history of resistance. The history of our country is the history of resistance. The right to resist tyranny is the most inevitable and most honourable right. We will continue to use this right. Whoever tries to present the right to resist as a crime and to destroy this right is a fascist. They are imitating the Nazis.
The tortures in the ‘F’ Type prisons are continuing, they are continuing constantly in every inhuman way. They are trying to make torture and repression into everyday events. The Death Fast is continuing in all the ‘F’ Type Nazi camps, all the hospitals and all the places where women prisoners are being kept. Dozens of prisoners are on the threshold of death. The
resistance will continue until their democratic and human demands are met.
We will continue to die.
WE WILL DIE BUT WE WILL NOT GIVE UP THE RIGHT TO RESIST
It must be known by now that those have supported the imitation Nazi government with lies, hypocrisy and abetting massacres are themselves accomplices in the crimes of the government. Don’t continue to be accomplices. Tell the truth. The lying government is now trying to prove that the ‘F’ Type prisons are effective by saying that “in the ‘F’ Type
prisons, 20 prisoners have abandoned the Death Fast.” But wait and you will see. These lies will be exposed. They are trying to get through today with these lies because they do not have any other explanations. They will tell different lies tomorrow about these deaths. They will say they committed suicide, they hanged themselves, they died of bronchitis, pneumonia and so on.
The lies are the lies of helplessness. All these lies will be exposed justNlike the other ones were exposed. Because we will continue to die and resist.
Despite all the massacres, lies, slanders and tortures, the government will not succeed in breaking our resistance and will not save itself from the account our martyrs will present. They are accursed like the Nazi authorities were accursed by history. Those who are celebrating over our corpses, drinking our blood and eating the flesh will not be able to save themselves from the account that we will present.
We announce to the entire world: The murderers of every one of our Death Fast resisters who were martyred are the fascist government and those who supported or approved of the massacre.
We promise the whole world and our people. We will not bow our heads to tyranny. We will continue to write the most honourable pages in the history of resistance by the Anatolian people. We will continue to use our right to resist. We will break the ‘F’ Type Nazi camps over the heads of the tyrannical government. To do this we will die one by one if we have to. We will die but we will never surrender our honour.
Hasan GUNGORMEZ:
He was a volunteer for the First Death Fast Team in Cankiri Prison. He was martyred on the 70th day of the Death Fast. Hasan was born on August 28, 1964 in Golyazi village, Cihanbeyli town, Konya. In 1987 he started to take part in the revolutionary struggle in the ranks of another political movement. In 1992 he joined our movement. Since that year he was a prisoner. He was a representative of our movement in Cankiri Prison. Hasan was a volunteer for the First Team of Death Fast resisters in the year 2000. While he was putting on the red headband, he said the following words:
“Today I consider myself the happiest human being in the world. In this situation, in this atmosphere, it would be unnecessary to say too many words. To be a part of the Death Fast resistance, hundreds of Party-Front supporters are confronting death and so need to show all their abilities, all their skills. This is our power, this is our source of resolve. I swear by this red headband that I will never do anything that besmirches it. The Party-Front means equality and means justice. The Party-Front means honour and morality. The Party-Front means hope and the future. I am so happy to be a small stone in the building of this future.”
As of December 28, following the December 19 attack, the following are the names of those who were martyred during the operation or were martyred on the Death Fast since then:
