DHKC 144: THE STATE MURDERED 32 OF OUR PRISONERS

Revolutionary People’s Liberation Front

Date: January 3 2001; Statement: 144

THE STATE MURDERED 32 OF OUR PRISONERS

THE MURDERS ARE CONTINUING

THE SLAUGHTER CANNOT REMAIN UNPUNISHED!

One of our sacrificial fighters entered Sisli security department with a bomb and destroyed an enemy target. Our sacrificial fighters are defending our right to resist!

The massacre the state began on December 19 has killed 32 of our prisoners. The slaughter is still continuing. The revolutionary prisoners lay down to die and resisted for the most democratic and legitimate rights in the world. Before the eyes of the entire world, this right to resist was attacked. And the worst massacre in the past 20 years was perpetrated. This state practises VIOLENCE against every section of the people – a state which knows nothing but violence, a state which knows nothing other than carrying out the orders of the IMF, a state which is stepping up its violence. With repression, with the ‘F’ Type Nazi camps, it wants to remove everything to do with freedom and the right to think and to organise. So as to be able to put into practice the dictates of the IMF, it does not want there to be any thought of opposition. This is why it is slaughtering the prisoners today. This attack, this massacre is not simply directed at the prisoners and the revolutionaries. It is an attack on everyone who thinks AND IS NOT ON THE SIDE OF FASCISM. They want to silence, wear down and destroy revolutionaries, intellectuals, trade unionists, every section of the people which wants what is right, and everyone who engages in thought. This is what the massacre is about.

THE STATE HAS CARRIED OUT A MASSACRE!

No demagogy, no lie can conceal this truth. They replied to the right to resist with a massacre. They replied with a massacre to the democratic demands of those who wanted freedom and what is right. This massacre of those they call “terrorists” proceeded in the most blatant manner. The history of this state is the history of massacres and terrorism.

THE STATE COMMITTED A MASSACRE! A RECKONING WILL BE DEMANDED FROM IT!

In no period of history have the people been devoid of justice. The people cannot live without rights and freedoms. A state which tries with massacres to destroy the people’s right to resist, a state which uses massacres to take away the people’s rights and freedoms is a fascist state. The people will resist and fight against this violence and terror of fascism. In Canakkale Prison, the revolutionary woman prisoner Fidan KALSEN said when the massacre started on December 19, “Stop the massacre. I am setting myself on fire.” The state replied by opening fire. It committed a massacre. Humanity and the people have won their identity by resisting. Henceforth this state greets the right to resist with massacres. This state does not endure any ways or means of legitimate struggle.

WE DID NOT WANT VIOLENCE. THE STATE WANTED IT.

There is no other way than to answer violence with violence. No other way is left to those who want rights and freedoms and who resist the state. We will continue to protect our right to resist in every way. AGAIN, IT IS THE STATE that murderously and without restraint opens proceedings against prisoners, tortures prisoners, slaughters prisoners and rejoices in slaughtering prisoners; but no massacre can remain unpunished.

At 13:50pm on January 3, TO DEFEND OUR RIGHT TO RESIST, FOR JUSTICE, WE CARRIED OUT A SACRIFICIAL ACTION AGAINST SISLI SECURITY DEPARTMENT.

The name of our fighter who carried out our sacrificial action was Gultekin KOC.

Gultekin KOC IS THE NAME OF A SACRIFICIAL FIGHTER, THE NAME OF THE RIGHT TO RESIST AND THE NAME OF JUSTICE!

Gultekin KOC is a hero of the people who sacrificed himself to demand a reckoning for our comrades slaughtered in the prisons, to protect the right to resist of the Death Fast resisters who have been thrown into the isolation cells, and for justice.

He was born on April 9, 1977 in Erzincan-Cayirli. He went to elementary and middle school in Esenler District, Istanbul. He was in the third class of Sakarya University’s Department of Construction Engineering. He both studied and worked. He started to sympathise with the revolutionaries during his high school years. He actually became a revolutionary at the end of 1995. He took his place in the struggle during his school years. He joined the academic-democratic struggle among youth. Like nearly every human being who becomes a part of the struggle for rights and freedoms, he was detained, subjected to torture and thrown in prison. He was detained on May Day 1996. During his imprisonment he was brought to Eskisehir Cell-Type Prison. While in prison he joined in the Indefinite Hunger Strike. When the prisoners’ resistance ended with the closure of the Eskisehir cell-type prison he was brought to Umraniye. Some time later he was released but detained again at the end of April 1997. On being released he again took his place in the struggle. He was a revolutionary who believed that this regime can be changed under the leadership of revolutionaries and he was aware that it is essential to struggle for this aim.
This is what he said: “I can say that it is the only Party (DHKP-C) which can achieve revolution and has the foresight to envisage such a thing. In fact what affects me the most is the correctness of the Party’s policies. This might be a classic statement, but I have nothing other than the Party. Because the period that I have lived through has reminded me that I cannot live as a part of this system.”

There is an inexhaustible supply of revolutionaries on the soil of this land. As long as the state attacks the right of our people to defend themselves and carries out massacres, the sacrificial fighters will always be present on the soil of this land.

STOP ATTACKING THE RIGHT TO RESIST!

STOP THE TORTURE AND MASSACRES!
