DHKC 119: MEDIA LIES

PRESS BUREAU

Date: August 20, 2000 | Statement No: 119

MEDIA LIES

News was disseminated in the August 19 newspapers and broadcast on TV that three people had been arrested in an operation in Istanbul-Pendik, that they had carried out robberies and were members of the DHKP-C.

The persons named as Mustafa Bobrek, Kenan Yucel and Mustafa Karabiber and said to be members of our organisation are not connected or related to our organisation in any way whether in the past or present.

Both the police and the media know very well that our organisation, which derives all its strength and possibilities from the people, has nothing to do with those types of individual and the activities said to have been carried out by them.

This kind of news has quite consciously and deliberately been disseminated by MIT (National Intelligence Organisation) and the political police. The aim is to wear down our organisation and smear it by making it appear to be involved in the activities of ne’er-do-wells. The press must not be the instrument of such media lies and must write the truth.

LIES CANNOT WEAR DOWN THE FRONT, WHICH DERIVES ITS STRENGTH FROM THE PEOPLE.
